Best places to eat in Brighton

With the smell of summer in the air, all we can think about is the tang of salt and vinegar on our lips, when we have fish and chips at Brighton Seaside. Located just a short drive from our budget hotel near Gatwick airport, it’s the perfect place to go for a day trip if you’re staying with us.  But fish and chips aren’t the only good things to eat in Brighton, oh no! In this blog, we pick out some of the top places to go, that will suit even the fussiest of eaters! Read on to find out more…

Head for afternoon tea

There’s nothing more British than a spot of afternoon tea, but it doesn’t all have to be cucumber sandwiches and sipping tea! Brighton offers a wide range of high teas, from the classic to the contemporary, with Champagne included – of course! However, our favourite has to be The Brighton Regency Routemaster! Hop onboard this beautifully restored bus and enjoy your afternoon tea, whilst taking in the sights of Brighton. Packages include both sweet and savoury options.  Prices start from £38 for this truly unique experience. Don’t delay, book now!

Have lunch with a view

Head to the British Airway’s i360 pod on Brighton beach and you’ll stumble across West Beach Bar and Kitchen. Serving up locally sourced food, Head Chef Sean Dickens-Shone and his team prepare a mixture of dishes which are perfect for sharing! The menu is reasonably priced and has a wide range of meals from fish finger sandwiches on a doorstop bloomer to slow roasted pork belly and beef burgers. There’s also a great kids menu, perfect for filling up the little ones after an exciting day of playing on the beach! Don’t forget to leave room for pudding!

Cool down with an ice cream

When you’re at the seaside, it’d be rude not to get an ice cream really. We highly recommend Boho Gelato This traditional ice cream parlour has over 150 flavours and counting, so the hardest part will be deciding what to get! Flavours range from custard cream, carrot cake, cherry bakewell and peanut brittle to bubblegum cookie dough, strawberry basil and black pepper, and melon! We’re hungry just thinking about all the flavours and they can change throughout the day as they sell out. So get down early if you see a flavour you want on their Facebook page!

Chill out with a coffee

Sometimes the simple things in life are the most enjoyable, and what’s better than a cup of tea and a slice of cake? If this is what you need, then why not head over to Mojo Coffee? With 2 locations in Brighton, you’re sure to stumble across one of them! Serving up coffees with their own range of beans, as well as healthy smoothies, iced drinks, and even wine(!) you won’t be short of choice. We’d recommend having a crisp glass of wine, with one of their charcuterie boards. Perfect for relaxing in the summer sun with!

Sample the catch of the day

Where better to eat fresh fish, than right on Brighton Pier, and if you head to The Salt Room, you can do just that! Serving up fresh fish, from oysters and prawns to octopus and sea bream, this restaurant really does give you the freshest catch around! But if this doesn’t tickle your fancy, choose from options like steak! Unfortunately, they don’t seem to do anything vegetarian or vegan, so bear this in mind if there is a mixture of dietary requirements in your party! Overall, we’d recommend this restaurant, it is slightly pricey, however, it’s the perfect place to go for a special meal!

Holiday Inn Express Gatwick Crawley Reviews

Dean,

Wales

Absolutely fantastic hotel... Booked it as a package, a very economical package with Purple Parking via Holiday Extras on our way to California via Gatwick Airport. One of the cleanest, hassle free hotels I have ever stayed in and I completely, 100% will recommend them to anyone travelling via Gatwick and will certainly use this hotel again myself. Breakfast was awesome, just what we needed to set us up for our 10 hour flight.

Very comfortable stay. Breakfast very good and staff very attentive. Easy to find and great value for money. Very welcoming and nice quiet hotel. Staff great could not fault anything. Nice and handy for Gatwick.

Angela,

Southampton

We stayed here before our flight to Crete and got a Hotel & Parking package. It was easy to find, the staff were very efficient & friendly and we had a ground floor room, which was lovely & clean. Overall a nice relaxing stay before our trip, we would definitely stay again.

This hotel was lovely and had a lovely vibe as lots of the holiday customers were excited . The hotel staff were very chatty and friendly. We arrived at the hotel too late for food but were told we could get sandwiches made up. However, we were shattered so we didn't bother taking up this generous offer. Our room was lovely and had complementary free WiFi so the kids were happy. We left our car at the hotel for a week which was secure and looked after. When we returned at 2am the following week, the staff were just as lovely and helpful. We were very happy with the service and we look forward to doing it all again next year.

Just stayed in the Holiday Inn Express at Crawley before flying out of Gatwick Airport. We booked our stay via APH car parks. We had a really good stay and the hotel had nice, clean and modern rooms with a good comfy bed. We had the added bonus of a breakfast included & check in was nice and simple with overnight parking. Well worth it to be nice and fresh for the airport.

Stayed at Holiday Inn Express Crawley for 3 nights during an in-between London/Brighton break. The breakfast was good and had a variety of foods on offer. The hotel was very clean as were the bathroom/bedrooms!

We stayed at Holiday Inn Express Crawley and paid for the Stay & Park package as we had an early flight the next day. I have stayed here on business before, however I forgot how good it was. Quick check in and everything was clean. We had dinner at the bar and the food was excellent, I could not fault a thing. Worth every penny!

Victoria,

Norwich

We originally booked for one night but decided to extend our stay for another night. The staff were extremely helpful and only charged us the same rate for the second night as the first. The Hotel reception and lounge (where breakfast is) is lovely and modern. The rooms are clean and well designed and we couldn't hear any noise from the airport or roads. Breakfast was good and it wasn't too busy. Overall a nice hotel that's good value for money.

We picked this hotel again to park the car during our holiday and stay overnight when we got back as our flight did not arrive until early morning. 1st class service, excellent value and very helpful staff. Would highly recommend this hotel.
